System Application
PREGRADA system is meant for efficient protection of perimeter fences around critical military, industrial and other installations. Employment of up-to-date technologies and high quality of implementation of the system results in a high probability of detection and reliable identification of perimeter intrusion. It may used at different layers of perimeter protection (depending on the category of the protected site).
The system can identify:
- attempts to overcome the fence;
- attempts to destroy the fence elements;
- tampering with electronics and communication lines.
The system allows to:
- generate a complete data base on the system performance and alarms registered during a specified period of time;
- detect and identify an adversary in real time, including during the night time;
- control the external equipment and devices, such as TV cameras, light, etc.
The PREGRADA system is unique combination of high technologies from a variety of sectors: metallurgy, material research, radiophysics, acoustics, telecommunications, radioelectronics, and signal processing methods. This is a vibraphone based detection and protection system consisting of a robust meshwire fence and sensor line (interface cable with vibration and contact sensors) installed on the fence. The system also includes data acquisition and processing equipment. The system is complete with ambient air registration sensors (weather station) to support automatic adjustment of the signal processing depending on the weather conditions (winter, rain, snow, and hail). An adversary identification function is implemented through a close-circuit television (CCTV) hooked up to the system.
The system can perform if an outside temperature is between – 50°C to +50°C, relative air humidity does not exceed 98% at 35°C (implying direct precipitation onto the sensors), with the following factors in effect:
- grass up to 1m high;
- rain, snow and hail at 40 mm per hour on water scale;
- snow and sand storms;
- lightning electromagnetic interference;
- overhead power supply lines of up to 500 kW capacity at the distance of at least 200 m.
Brief specifications:
- total length of the perimeter fence for one station unit is up to 12,800 m;
- one perimeter section span – up to 100 m;

- size of meshwire sections varies between 3,200 x 2,000 mm; 3,200 x 2,400 mm; 3,200 x 3,000 mm, 3,200 x 3,500 mm with one overhead outrigger; 3,200 x 3,500 mm with two overhead outriggers; 3,200 x 1,000 mm on the concrete fence; and 3,200 x 1,500 mm on the concrete fence;
- support cross section is 60 x 60 x 2.5 mm;
- meshwire zinc-plating is 140 g/m2;
- support zinc-plating is 290 g/m2;
- paint cover thickness is 100 mcm on supporting poles and 125 mcm on the wire;
- life time of the fence is minimum 50 years;
- warranty on the fence is 10 years;
- life time of the electronic equipment is 10 years;
- warranty on the electronic equipment is 3 years;
- labor consumption on routine maintenance is 47 man-hours per year/km.
